For four weeks we traveled through Mali, and it has made our list of one of the best countries we've ever been to. The people are friendly, the landscapes are beautiful, and the food is good. We were able to immerse ourselves into the Malian culture and see the country in ways that we never would have imagined.

Dogon Girl
The Dogon people live in, below, and above a huge cliff that cuts its way through central Mali for 200 miles. These people fled the dangers of other tribes long ago to make their homes around the safe havens of the cliff. They still live as they have for thousands of years. Most of the Dogon people live in mud huts in small villages. They store their food in small granaries, and their society still follows a traditional social structure.
