For four weeks we traveled through Mali, and it has made our list of one of the best countries we've ever been to. The people are friendly, the landscapes are beautiful, and the food is good. We were able to immerse ourselves into the Malian culture and see the country in ways that we never would have imagined.
Numumuso
This woman is a Numumuso, or Pottery Woman. She lives in the village of Kalabougou outside of Segou, Mali. Her entire village focuses on the production of pottery to sell to other villages all around the region and tourists. Some of the pottery is functional, while other pieces are artistic. Most of the villagers live in homes made of mud and wood, and a nearby well installed by an NGO provides the village with drinking water.
